Fire & Ice in the San Juans

It’s elemental; this week on KRKQ/MountainChill® we’re celebrating fire and ice.

Fire

First, the Telluride Fire Festival will be getting underway next weekend. We are giving away a limited number of single tickets to lucky listeners for two of the ticketed evening events including: Rob Garza (of Thievery Corporation), on Friday night (1/15) and the Fire Ball on Saturday night (1/16). Both events happen at the Great Room atop the gondola. For tickets and details visit telluridefirefestival.org.

Tune in to 95.5 FM KRKQ during the Lunch Lounge from Noon to 1 and the Evening Drive from 4:30 to 5:30 (starting on Monday the 11th) for your chance to call in and win. Studio line: 888-948-1640.

(Complete rules posted at mountainchill.com, click on “Terms, Policies & Contests.”)

Ice

While Telluride celebrates fire, on the other side of the ridge, Ouray will be celebrating ice. The Ouray Ice Festival is ice climbing’s premier yearly event. During the festival, Ouray is an absolute ice climbing mecca. Ice climbers, both novice and pro will travel from around the world to celebrate the growing sport. This year’s festival will be highlighting the great women of ice climbing.

And yes, we’ll once again be providing sound (and spinning tunes) for the Ice Fest, so stop by and see us at the sound booth right by the bridge. We’ll even have a limited number of official Mountainchill® Tees and stickers to give to listeners who stop by to say “hello.”
